Ruins of the Old Empire
The lives of the dragonborn are ruled by their lack of numbers. Unlike the other races, they had no land to claim as their own, and indeed they came to Ammunar in a slow trickle instead of a flood like the other interlopers. Dragonborn stories say that they were selected as individuals by Amaunator from their own dying world, one a day for 3,333 days—their cultural obsession with piety and honor suggests their ancestors may have been the sort of people Amaunator would consider worthy of saving. Certainly they appeared scattered across the length and breadth of Ammunar, another factor against their ever truly banding together.
Now they live in a number of enclaves throughout the world, primarily in larger cities. Many are employed as bodyguards and soldiers, and there are remarkably many dragonborn clerics considering their small number overall. Dragonborn are also found in lesser occupations which take strength and focus, such as ironworking, the raising of buildings, and poling trade barges along waterways.
